21 Days of Library Expansion

What?  Mahomet community coming together to support local businesses and our library

Why?  Our Mahomet Public Library would like to expand to keep up with demand for children’s programs, programming and meeting space, quiet work/study spaces and more. The Library is seeking funds from grants, taxes, and donations to expand the library. 21 Days of Library Expansion will help the library, support local businesses and increase visibility for the library expansion project.

When?  January 10 – 31, 2026

What is Happening?  Every day from January 10 – 31, we are asking at least one business in town to do something special to help raise money for the library. It may be giving 5% of all sales that day, $5 for each customer who visits, or something else. Each business will choose for themselves what they want to do.

How will people learn about it?  The library is creating a calendar that will be up all around town, on social media, on the new Everything Mahomet website, and more. Each day, the business or businesses with specials that day will be featured on the library website and on community social media pages. This includes businesses who will be offering specials the full 21 days.

Notes for Businesses:

  1. Thank you for being willing to be part of this project!
  1. Date for Participation You may choose a specific day you prefer. (We will ask you to give us several options to help us space things out and so everyone isn’t doing it the same day.) Or you can request one day from a category of days (like Friday or Saturday) or you can ask us to put you where it works best for the program. For some businesses, it might make sense to do the whole 3 week period, or one week. We will do our best to make this easy for participants
  1. What you offer This is up to you, as long as it will bring people into your business and help raise funds for the library.  What you say here is what we will put on the calendar. Try to keep it to one short sentence.
  1. Questions? Please contact Library Director John Howard with any questions. 217-586-2611
