Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Melissa has lived in Effingham, Elgin, and now Mahomet, where she moved in November 2022 with her husband and two children. She works in the mental health field and as a substitute teacher, and is active in the community through the PTO and as a Girl Scout troop leader.
Melissa is an avid reader who gravitates toward books that explore human connection, resililence, and the systems that shape our lives–especially the works of Jodi Picoult and Michael Lewis. She values the library as a space for curiosity, empathy, and lifelong learning, and is passionate about ensuring access to information and ideas for everyone in the community.
