The library provides free internet access. You may connect your own computer to the network with our Wi-Fi service or sign up to use one of the library workstations. Please be aware that wireless connections are not secure and should not be used for financial transactions or matters requiring privacy.
The library provides 16 computers with internet access and Microsoft Office software for public use. Patrons wishing to use these computers must first review and sign our Registration and User Agreement. A parent or guardian must sign a Registration and User Agreement for children less than 17 years of age. Please review our Computer and Internet Policy before using computers at the library.
Home Delivery Service is a free service for patrons who are unable to use the library in the traditional manner. Items are delivered and picked up every other week.
Because we schedule pickup and delivery of the items, you cannot accrue overdue charges. You are, however, responsible for any lost or damaged items.
To sign up for this service, please complete the Reader Advisory form. A library staff member will select materials for you based on the preferences you give in this form.
Home Delivery Service patrons must have a valid Mahomet Library card. If you do not have a card, please complete the Library Card Application form as well.
Please call us at 217-586-2611 if you need assistance with these forms.
The library has an Optelec ClearView + video magnifier for the use of our patrons who are visually impaired or those who require magnification for detailed work. The machine magnifies in color all types of print materials and photographs. The unit is located on a table near the circulation desk. You may use the unit at any time without reservation.
The library provides a copier/printer for patron use. Each color page is $1.00 and each black and white page is 15 cents. Fees are paid at the machine and the unit accepts coins or small bills.
Pages may be printed from library workstations, your own computer via Wi Fi, or a flash drive plugged into the USB port on the copier.
The machine also serves as a scanner. Scanned images may be saved directly to a flash drive using the USB port on the unit.
Faxes may be sent and received during normal library hours. Local faxes cost $1.50 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page. Long distance faxes cost $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page.
The library has a Notary Public on the premises during most daytime hours, Monday through Friday. To ensure this person is available, please call ahead and schedule an appointment.
Bring the document(s) to be notarized and a photo ID or valid driver’s license.
You may register to vote at the library. Please bring two forms of identification; one of these must show your current address.
State and Federal tax forms are available at the Library from January through April. You may also download forms from the IRS website or the State of Illinois Dept of Revenue
