Wake Up Your Bike for Summer: Bike Maintenance 101

May 29, 2021, 9:00 am to 10:00 am
Ages:
ALL

Like cars, bikes need regular maintenance to run properly and last for years. You could pay for this service, but it’s really not hard to do it yourself!

Join us as Jason Schifo, a Mahomet resident and avid cyclist, shows us how to do the basics for keeping our bikes in good condition, including:

  • Changing tires and tubes

  • Adjusting the brakes

  • Lubricating several key parts on the bike

  • Fitting a bike to a particular rider

This program will be outdoors at the library. We recommend you bring your own lawn chair! We will have drawings for bike-related prizes, too (for those in attendance at the event)!

No registration is necessary for this event.

Outdoor programs are weather dependent. Because we have a large tent, we can hold programs in light rain, but not heavier rain and wind. If we have to cancel a program, we will post an announcement on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

COVID-19 Policy for Outdoor Events

  • Masks are not required to take part in outdoor events.

  • Participants are asked to keep a mask handy and use it when congregating with or visiting with people outside their household.

  • Remember that although adults may be vaccinated, children still are not.  Let’s put a priority on protecting them.

  • Mask use is still required and will be enforced inside the library building.
