Teen Writing by Design: Fan Fiction

July 20, 2017, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Ages:
12-18

Thursdays: July 6, 13,20,27

Teens are invited to meet at the library each Thursday in July for writing fun.  Each week, library staff or a special guest will present and lead a writing exercise on a specific theme or writing form.  Bring your pencils and paper, a computer, or even a typewriter to this fun writing program.  Sharing is encouraged, and there will be snacks!

July 6:  Inspired by Art.  Explore some famous and not-so-famous art, designs, or pictures and write stories, poetry, or songs inspired by them.

July 13: Script Writing. Exercise your writing muscles by writing a puppet script.  We’ll have computers on hand for printing out props and puppets to test out the resulting plays.

July 20: Fan Fiction. Write something inspired by your favorite book, movie, or TV series.  We’ll also talk about how copyright works into the matter.  It’s not theft; it’s borrowing! Or is it?

July 27: Comics, Manga, and Graphic Novels. Calling both writers and artists: join us and a special guest to learn about the unique requirements for writing for artwork and illustrating for words.

Please register for any or all sessions.
