Dr. Pope has worked with a variety of Russian business, political, and education institutions for over 25 years. His work in Russia has included:

  • Observing the first open elections in Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991
  • Advising Russian businesses attempting to succeed in a chaotic emerging market economy
  • Advising American firms wanting to do business in Russia
  • Establishing a wide range of education exchanges between American and Russian schools, including three exchanges involving the Mahomet-Seymour schools

Dr. Pope is the founder and president of Serendipity Russia, which operates the American Home in Vladimir, Russia. For over twenty years, the American Home has helped foster an awareness of American Culture among Russians in the Vladimir Region.

Dr. Pope is retired from the Department of Political Science and Government at Illinois State University and resides in Normal, Illinois.
